Maintenance Handyperson – Summer Students Job at Sunbeam Community and Developmental Services

Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services is a multi-site, multi-faceted organization providing client supports, day program and other services for individuals with a developmental disability.

We are currently seeking Two Maintenance Handyperson - Summer Students for a 16-week summer position that will begin approximately April 24, 2023 or May 1, 2023. This position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program. The Maintenance Handyperson Summer Students will work within our Kingsway Drive office location and expected to provide service to all of Sunbeam’s properties throughout the Region of Waterloo).

RESPONSIBLITIES:
· Assisting maintenance staff with day to day tasks in different group home locations such as hanging TVs, changing filters and maintenance on patient equipment
· Painting and small repairs to buildings
· Minor carpentry
· Preparation and cleanup of renovation projects
· Furniture assembly and installation
· Monthly health and safety inspections
· Other duties as required/assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIFICATIONS:
· Must be between the ages of 15-30 years old
· Must have experience in the field of maintenance, renovations, construction, or skilled trades
· Must have good knowledge and experience in the safe use of hand and power tools
· Must be able to provide a completed current Criminal Reference Check
· Must be able to provide a completed pre-employment attending physician’s report and immunization certification

POSITION DETAILS:
· Hourly Rate: $15.50/hour
· Hours: Monday – Friday, day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
· 16-week duration: April 24, 2023 or May 1, 2023 to August 11, 2023 or August 18, 2023
