We are hiring Maintenance Mechanics in Stoney Creek, ON for a leading Canadian provider of essential environmental and industrial services for industrial, commercial, and institutional customers, including those in the manufacturing, mining, municipal, oil and gas, pulp, and paper, refining and petrochemical, transportation, and utilities sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times: company issued or approved work boots, CSA safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, cut 4 resistant work gloves in addition to long pants. Some employees wear wrist supports. The wearing of hooded clothing on or around the head is not permitted.
  • Work in a manner that will not harm himself, herself or another worker and, in accordance with the prescribed Nova Steel Inc.’s work instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report any safety, health, maintenance, production or quality concern to the Production Supervisor. In the event of an emergency, evacuate the workplace and meet at the designated area in accordance with the company emergency evacuation procedures. Note: the Alcos Crew is responsible for bringing out the stretcher, AED, MSDS/SDS Binder and Trauma Bag during any emergency evacuation, including drills.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner according to company policies and provincial regulations
  • Be involved with day to day maintenance activities of production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment
  • Operate basic machine shop tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts as required
  • Use hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Provide technical recommendations
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance work and complete documentation
  • Follow work procedures for maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds, demonstrating exceptional standards for quality
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Able to work rotating Shifts

Millwright Skills

  • Licensed Millwright required
  • Preferred candidate is Certified Red Seal/Journeyman Millwright Certification
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced processing or manufacturing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid trouble-shooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate ability to read and understand machine drawings, schematics, and process flow diagrams
  • Required to work from heights and confined space, respirator fit training and training will be provided
  • Able to lift up to 50Lbs
  • Comply with all Health and Safety and Company policies
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Good mechanical aptitude

Safety Sensitive: All jobs within the plant including the Maintenance Millwright, perform activities and/or work in an environment where a temporary lapse in concentration, focus and/or judgment could result in an immediate, serious injury, harm or death to themselves or others. Fitness for work including compliance with company health and safety and alcohol, drug and cannabis policies are required to be maintained for this position.

Working days:

Morning (7am-3pm)
Afternoons (3pm-11pm)
Nights (11pm-7am)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $33.57 per hour

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay

  • Hamilton, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
