Role Summary

Join a team that is transforming data and analytics at Sun Life Financial (SLF) Canada. Sun Life’s Client Experience Office (CXO) Analytics area is aggressively enhancing its campaign design and data integration capability with new tools, and most importantly, new talent.

As a Manager of CXO Campaign Design Data Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in working closely with our business partners to enable digital engagement, understand our client needs in new ways, and ultimately enable a leading client experience. You will be hands-on in driving key technical decisions ensuring the right trade-offs are made to deliver high-quality results and deliver high, measurable value for our business partners and our Clients.

Sunlife is embarking on an exciting journey to adopt state of the art decision engine and you will play a pivotal role in adopting this new technology, designing and orchestrating real time decisions and creating cross channel journeys that integrate real time information, integrated with analytical models and many more such advanced capabilities.

What will you do?

As a People Leader, you will:

  • Coach, mentor and manage 3- 4 campaign data analysts to develop a high performing, highly motivated, innovative, and engaged team of professionals.

  • Effectively hire, onboard, and retain talent, with a focus on sustainability and long-term development needs.

  • Monitor and evaluate performance by providing timely and regular feedback on personal and team goals.

  • Identify process gaps, efficiencies, refinements and establish new process

As a Technical Leader your responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership for multiple ongoing initiatives.

  • Responsible for the design, and successful implementation of effective and quality solutions that resolve highly complex business problems and supports business needs.

  • Accountable for delivery according to pre-agreed timelines and ensure that delivery meets the integrity, quality and performance requirements.

  • Gather, document, and help form business requirements, key performance indicators, and other functional and technical requirements.

  • Interact frequently with stakeholders including interaction with marketers, analysts, web developers, content and creative designers

  • Gain hands-on experience working with advanced marketing automation platforms, enterprise-level data structures and complex MarTech integrations

  • Collaborates in an agile team to understand business objectives and develop campaign solutions that deliver best in class, engaging and highly relevant experience

  • Liaise with stakeholders across other teams to resolve discrepancies

  • Manage and execute data requests ensuring requests are aligned to business priorities and the request fulfillment meets the business needs

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field with a strong technical core such as Computer Science, Software engineering, Business Analytics, Engineering Science, Statistics, Math, Business Commerce or equivalent working experience

  • Over 6 years experience in campaign design, solution architecture, data management and a solid understanding of the data needs of marketing, campaigns and business.

  • Relevant experience working with one of the leading decision engines (eg SAS ID,,RTDM, FICO, IBM ODM etc)

  • Related work experience in Campaign execution and operations, marketing automation, digital communications, database marketing and data analysis

  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience as a people leader with the demonstrated ability to coach and develop talent.

  • 6+ years experience in data analytical role: Analytical programming languages (e.g. SAS, SQL, Python).

  • Knowledge of Marketing Automation platform such as Adobe Campaign, Siebel Marketing, Unica or Salesforce Pardot

  • Highly driven and self motivated having the ability to drive solution design in a multi system setting.

  • Familiarity with APIs , REST, SOAP.

  • Solid communication skills – have the ability to explain complexity of data to a business audience and explain the complexity of business to the IT audience

  • Passion to challenge the status quo, find new solutions and drive out-of-the-box ideas.

  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust.

  • Not afraid to “roll up the sleeves” and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn, pushing teams to do the same.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
