Lead the ongoing success and growth of the HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical & Lighting Departments for one of Manitoba's most established building supply retailers.
Our Client
Our client is one of the province's best-known and most highly regarded building materials retailers. They have a firm focus on customer experience and pride themselves on providing the best customer experience in the market. Servicing all of Manitoba and reaching Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario, this business continues to look for ways to grow the business and extend its reach, all the time ensuring that customer experience is maximized.
The HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Lighting Departments are extremely well developed and enjoys a good reputation with both retail customers and contractor customers. Providing both sales and installation services, the departments are major profit centres for the building centre and currently have around 55 employees including sales, installation, scheduling, and product specialists.
The Role
As Department Manager, your role is to mentor and develop the team, lead from the front in customer interactions and sales, manage purchases and ensure margins are maintained, work closely with the suppliers, and ensure that the customer experience is exceptional throughout the sales and installation process. The teams are relatively established and have shown strong growth in recent years. The bonus is based on profit rather than growth targets and you will be taking over a very profitable business with strong teams and motivated people. We need the experience of a seasoned leader to continue the growth of each line of business, establish existing managers as leaders and accelerate their growth, build culture and loyalty within the team, and maximize profit opportunities from customer interactions.
The Person
We are looking for a natural leader, someone with experience leading teams within a building materials or retail environment. We are open to candidates who have been managing installation teams if they have a strong customer service orientation. We need someone who enjoys mentoring others, has a strong grasp of numbers, and has experience managing pricing and/or budgets. Knowledge and experience in the building materials industry or construction industry would be highly valued, especially if it involved selling to contractors. Any HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical or Lighting knowledge would be great but not essential. Most importantly we need a people leader.
