Our high-energy, fast paced business needs a Managing Director with excellent time management skills and a proven track record of setting and meeting ambitious goals in the retail, distribution industry. We’re looking for a candidate with considerable managerial experience who can recruit new talent, allocate both human and material resources efficiently, communicate with HR and coordinate with other departments on time-sensitive projects.

Job Summary

The Managing Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations, managing the organization’s HR, helping and creating organizational and program budgets in collaboration with the Leadership team from HQ.

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the Management Team this position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organizations financial and operations functions.

Working with the management team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments in the organization.

· Financial - Review financial statements and data provided from the Accounting Manager. Utilize financial data to improve efficiency. Prepare and control operational budgets. Control inventory. Recommend effective strategies for the financial well-being of the CSS Group of Companies.

· Best Practices - Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.

· Human Resources –Assist in recruitment and placement of required staff; establishment of organizational structure; delegation of tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance in partnership with the President.

· Communication - Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts and Finance. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.

· Strategic Input - Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.

· Risk Management - Oversee organizational insurance policies.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field

· 3+ years operations experience

· 3+ years experience in bookkeeping and financial reporting

· Post-secondary education in Labor Management, Business, or HR from a recognized institution At least 3 years’ experience in Financial Management

· Demonstrated leadership ability.

· Knowledge of government contract management and knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices

· Budget development and oversight experience

· Knowledge of Labour Standards

· Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook

· Familiarity with Accounting software platforms, CRM and ecommerce programs.

· Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is preferred.

Working conditions
