REPORTS TO: Technology Manager

HOURS: 40 hours weekly

SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager will plan, organize and oversee the engineering team to conduct studies and develop programs to identify the most efficient use of technology, equipment, human capital and materials in order to increase productivity and efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the engineering team providing technical leadership, coaching and teaching.
  • Plan and control budget expenditures.
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Check all bills of materials to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate manufacturing documentation and SOP’s (drawings, BOM management, assembly and testing methods).
  • Analyze the problems that arise within the design and production processes, determine, and assist with implementation of solutions.
  • Collaborate with production to ensure accurate BOM routings, material usage, and takt times.
  • Maintain schedules while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confirm drawings for standard product lines as well as custom and in-house parts and machine designs.
  • Analyze costs of production
  • Evaluate and process Engineering Change Notice’s (ECN), make recommendations regarding how to improve quality of products and processes based on the evaluation.
  • Study new machinery and facilities make recommendations for improvements.
  • Establish programs and conduct studies to enhance industrial health and safety.
  • Oversee the programming for a variety of CNC machinery.
  • Review and approve work instructions and SOP’s.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to carry/push/pull up to 30 lbs occasionally.
  • Sitting/Standing for extended periods
  • Periodic climbing (stairs)
  • Repetitive use of hands/wrists with light grasping
  • Occasional walking/twisting/bending and reaching above and below shoulder.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Display appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on company workers/co-workers.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Works as part of a team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Interpret complex drawings and able to visualize spatial 3D mechanical design.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Working predominantly within a ‘normal’ office environment.
  • Exposure to the manufacturing environment will be required including exposure to seasonal temperature changes, loud noises, and moving machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when in the manufacturing facility to include but not limited to, safety glasses, steel toe foot protection, hearing protection, and hard hats.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • P.Eng
  • 5 Years of prior experience in a manufacturing environment with 2 years experience in a managerial role.
  • CNC Machine Programming
  • Familiar with LEAN manufacturing processes
  • MS Office Software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • SAGE experience preferred, but not required.

  • Advanced oral comprehension and expression; Must speak, read, and write in English fluently.
  • Literacy equivalent to OECD Level 3 or higher.
