Who we are:

Metro Testing + Engineering (Metro) was established in 1987 in Metro Vancouver, BC to provide the materials testing of concrete, asphalt, and soils for the construction industry. Since then, we have grown to include a diverse scope of services that now includes specialty testing, materials engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, concrete restoration, and quality assurance certification throughout BC and Alberta.

Who we are looking for:

Metro Testing + Engineering Ltd. (Victoria) is seeking Materials Testing Technician to perform onsite materials testing. The ideal applicant will be self-motivated and goal-oriented and will have high standards of ethics.

The scope of our work is to provide third party independent sampling and testing of construction materials for quality control/quality assurance purposes.
Job duties

· Sampling and testing concrete and soil in the field and lab settings

· Maintaining CCIL protocols

· Recording and reporting results

· Troubleshooting real time compliance issues in the field and monitoring non-compliance protocols

· Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience with testing concrete is an asset
  • Valid BC driver’s license (all successful candidates will be asked to provide their driver's abstract)
  • Appropriate vehicle for use on construction sites (company vehicle is an option)
  • Ability to lift and control weights up to 16 kilos / 35 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn customized computer programs
  • Strong ethics
