Valley Medical Laboratories is a private medical laboratory providing diagnostic services to the Okanagan Valley from Osoyoos to Lumby since 1969. With a reputation for providing timely, accurate results and excellent customer service, Valley Medical Laboratories employs over 150 team members across 14 locations. We are looking for a team member to join our growing organization.

Valley Medical Laboratories in Kelowna, BC is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) for a casual position in the Chemistry Department. The hours of the department fall between 7:00am and 9:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The MLT position responsibilities include: performing laboratory procedures in all areas of Chemistry; ensuring completion of assigned work; operating, maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment; preparing accurate reports; participating in teaching, educational, safety and quality improvement programs; observing and following laboratory and departmental policies and procedures.

MLT duties include but are not limited to:

• Performing a variety of routine testing using procedures, automated equipment and the Laboratory Information System.
• Receiving and handling all departmental specimens and reagents, validating and reporting results, following quality assurance procedures for both internal and external QC programs and performing instrument maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Participation in departmental and general laboratory training and education sessions and work to the established standards for safety and the provincial accreditation requirements.

• Responsible for miscellaneous general lab duties as assigned.
• Department instrumentation and related lab equipment: Roche Cobas 8000, Siemens Advia Centaur, Bio-Rad Variant Turbo II HPLC, Somagen Minicap, Roche p512, Millipore Elix-15 and Elix-70 Duplex water purification systems

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited program in Medical Laboratory Technology
• CSMLS Certified
• Active Registration with CSMLS
• Criminal Record check
