We are seeking an enthusiastic Consumer Support Worker with a mental health focused background to join our Community Treatment Order team. As an interdisciplinary team member of the Assertive Outreach Service, you will play an integral role in helping individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness, utilizing your knowledge of the legislation, to realize their full recovery potential in a community setting. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, and reporting to the manager, you will provide holistic (psychological, physical, health, spiritual, and social) supports to meet the individual needs of the client, to assist clients with goal development and attainment. While many of our current programs are offered at the Mental Health Clinic, this position will require you to travel to various locations within the City of Red Deer such as recreational facilities, grocery stores, other agencies, etc. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this workplace expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. Description:

As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience with acute mental health preferably in a community setting. An understanding of the impact of trauma on substance misuse and mental health concerns. Strong ability to triage priorities. An excellent attendance record, reliability, adaptability and flexibility must be demonstrated through your employment references. Reliable vehicle. Must be able to assist client with daily tasks that may involve lifting, walking and ability to maneuver stairs. BLS completed.
