NEW POSITION: Mobile Mental Health & Addictions Clinic Team Lead


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Mobile Mental Health & Addictions Clinic Team Lead is responsible for the development, launch, coordination and supervision of the Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic (MMHC) within rural and remote regions within the Kenora District. The MMHAC Team Lead will ensure that the following objectives are achieved through the clinic: improving access to mental health and addiction services for unserved and underserved areas; improving health outcomes by removing barriers to access, including geography, transportation, and stigma; reducing healthcare costs by encouraging and easing intervention early and mitigating the need for higher intensity support later on; and reducing health disparities by ensuring access to services that are culturally and developmentally appropriate and available where and when clients need them. The MMHAC Team Lead will supervise the provision of a multi-disciplinary team with support from external partners and resources. The MMHAC Team Lead will develop and formalize relationships with external providers by establishing formal and informal agreements to establish and maintain clear roles in a collaborative service delivery model in multiple sites which will also include a landing space location identified for the MMHAC. The MMHAC Team Lead will ensure that high standards of quality client care and professional conduct is maintained, and that services provided are evidence-based, best practice approaches in partnership with traditional approaches as identified by the community and area. The MMHAC will ensure that program development, maintenance and evaluation, management and supervision of human resources, program and organizational quality improvement, risk management, monitoring staff scheduling, and required data collection are completed for the program.


Qualifications:
BSW, MSW or registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the delivery of community mental health or addictions supports to clients
Knowledge of evidence-based service delivery models, treatment modalities and established standards of codes of practice for provision of community mental health support and services
Knowledge of community mental health and addictions population
Knowledge of harm reduction
Applied knowledge of community resources and agencies
Networking skills and outreach skills
Ability to assess dynamic risk
Highly developed communication skills
Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing interventions
Assessment, case management, advocacy, supportive counselling, and documentation skills
Personal qualities of empathy, understanding, and patience
Good interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
Ability to communicate professionally with community agencies
Cultural competence for diverse populations
Understanding and applied knowledge of the Recovery Model
Understanding of trauma informed practice and implementation

Proficient computer skills
Demonstrated understanding of personal space and ability to role model healthy boundaries

First aid & CPR/AED, Mental health first aid, and NVCI or willing to obtain


Duties:
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch
  • Collaborate and develop formal and informal agreements to establish and maintain clear roles in acollaborative service delivery model in multiple sites which will also include a landing space locationidentified for the MMHC
  • Work collaboratively with community partners to reduce barriers and develop collaborative approachesto ensure that a range of mental health and addiction services is accessible to persons who werepreviously unserved or underserved
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination and management of the program including program development,implementation, maintenance, and evaluation, using measurable outcomes
  • Monitor and ensure staff compliance with agency and program policies, procedures, processes andstandards
  • Ensure completion of clinical assessment tools (VI-SPDAT, OCAN Assessment, IntegratedAssessment Record etc.) within the Mobile Mental Health & Addictions Clinic as identified within thefunding agreement as well as internally by the organization
  • Ensure compliance with funder’s financial guidelines, targets, and operational mandates
  • Assist with ongoing program development of the MMHC as directed by the Chief Executive Officer ofCMHA Kenora Branch
  • Conducting regular formal or informal evaluation of client satisfaction, achievement of goals,reassessment of service requirements and or needs in consultation with the client
  • Activity Actively participates in and provide leadership in quality improvement across the organization
  • Actively participate in the development of sustainability of the ongoing Accreditation Standards,Required Organizational Practices and Quality Improvement projects
  • Promote the MMHC in various public events and by presenting present program information to groupsand organizations at community education events
  • Provide formal, regular, and timely clinical supervision to the MMHAC staff
  • Provide coordination with clinicians and other organizations collaborating with the MMHAC
  • Provide regular supervision meetings with the MMHAC staff
  • Ensure ongoing MMHAC Staff performance reviews are completed and identified individualperformance improvement needs are worked on
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new hires to the MMHAC
  • Participates in the evaluation of the program operational goals and make recommendations on changesto current program activities for improved program delivery
  • Ensure all file management and reporting functions are maintained in a comprehensive and timelymanner
  • Participates and contributes toward the effective working of the team and overall operation of theagency
  • Develops policies and procedures at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer for the on-goingfunctioning of the program
  • Deliver and coordinate program orientation and training of new employees of the MMHAC
  • Provides support and supervision to agency volunteers and students assigned to the program area
  • Maintenance of Maintain client files consistent with policies and procedures of Canadian Mental HealthAssociation, Kenora Branch
  • Professionally representing Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch
  • Drafting all necessary correspondence and reports regarding clients and Team Lead reports
  • Participation Participate in administrative and office functions, including ongoing maintenance of MMHC
locations •Participation Participate in educational and professional development opportunities
  • Ensure safety and security of all clients of the MMHAC during shift, including interpersonal safety andsafety of the MMHAC staff
  • General administration duties
  • Complete regular reviews and audits of program files to ensure compliance with the agencies policiesand procedures
  • Prepare MMHAC schedule and maintain scheduling program (approving time off requests etc.)
  • Coordinate schedules with other organizations to support shared transportation in the MMHAC
  • Coordinate schedule with other organizations to support shared space at the landing space for theMMHC
  • Communicate changes and new rules/regulations to staff; ensure all operation and program policiesand procedures are being followed
  • Attend education/training opportunities as required
  • Participate on specific committees or working groups as assigned by Chief Executive Officer
  • Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations andPolicies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHIMIS and Safe Work Procedures; including but not limited toFire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans
  • Ensure client safety and client safety activities are emphasized throughout orientation of new staffmembers
  • Operate any equipment and work in a way that does not endanger oneself or any other worker
  • Identify and report workplace hazards to the Operations Coordinator, Finance Manager and ChiefExecutive Officer
  • Support an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may resultin an adverse outcome in the delivery of mental health services
