What we are looking for:
The Occupational Health Nurse role bridges both nursing and abilities management principles to facilitate employee well-being for much of the staff health and safety service continuum. As the successful candidate you will work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as the Infection Prevention and Control protocols as outlined in the OHA/OMA Guidelines, MOHLTC directives and current infection control practices. You will also follow principles from accommodation, disability management and the WSIB insurance scheme to implement safe and suitable case management for staff. The position will support the organizational strategic priorities and initiatives primarily at the Markham site, with possible support roles at Uxbridge and Humber West RCC sites.

Responsibilities for the role include disability / return-to-work programs, case and contact management, new hire health assessments, health surveillance, immunization testing and surveillance, vaccination clinics, mask fit testing, first aid, counseling, critical incident debriefing, referrals to the employee assistance program, and health education, teaching and promotion.

What you bring to the role:
Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Registration and member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing is an asset or consideration for pursuit underway.
Member of Ontario Occupational Health Nurses Association (OOHNA) is an asset
Current Standard First Aid and BCLS certification
Strong assessment skills
Ability to coordinate and administer immunization programs
Ability to respond appropriately to medical emergencies
Ability to adapt to potential work surges and adjust approaches accordingly
Familiarity with PHO Case and Contact Management guidelines for COVID-19
Familiarity with OMA/OHA Communicable disease Surveillance Guidelines.
Experience with / skill in outbreak management / liaising with Infection Prevention & Control
Experience with medical surveillance and post exposure follow-up
Maintain statistical data and provide routine reports
Knowledge of the OHSA and the WSIA along with related regulations and policies is an asset
Experience facilitating return to work meetings and plans
Experience strategizing and executing disability management for STD, LTD and WSIB
Experience conducting environmental and health assessments
Motivated and self-directed individual with the ability to function effectively both autonomously and as a team member
Well developed communication (oral, written and presentation) and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to set and adjust priorities
Knowledge and application of adult education principles
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience using the OHS Parklane system is an asset
Experience developing staff assessment tools, policies and directives is an asset
Demonstrates good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday Days, subject to change based on operational needs

Compensation:
BAND J: $34.27 - $49.07 per hour
