Job Description:


In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Performs administrative support functions such as secretarial duties for the Assistant Continuing Care Manager, monitoring expenditures, providing input into the development and evaluation of clerical programs. Supervises Continuing Care clerical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Key at 60 wpm. Personal computer skills for office applications at an advanced level. Good knowledge of Business English. Grade 12, and completion of a College Diploma Program in Office Administration or equivalent, plus 3 years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and self direct program needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and a working familiarity with the Provincial Database System (CCIMS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and public.
  • Ability to work in partnership with all members of the team, in a team based environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, public and officials using tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and human relation skills.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and able to take risks.
