Permanent, Fulltime position

We are seeking a full time, energetic person to join our Sentinel Secondary team. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, outstanding ability to multi task and manage a busy office setting. Reporting to the Principal, this position is responsible for the general management of the school office and for providing various general and confidential administrative services (including labour relations) for the Principal, the Vice-Principal(s) and the school. The Administrative Assistant is also responsible for the overall administration school’s finances and the supervision of unionized office employees.

The successful applicant will possess:
Grade 12 graduation plus courses at post-secondary level (including courses in accounting and computer software).
Demonstrated supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of district staff, senior management, trustees, members of other organizations and the public at large.
Ability to analyze, interpret and exercise sound judgment in the resolution of problems and in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
Self-starter with ability to organize daily tasks, set priorities, work independently and as a member of a team and work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
Good command of written/ spoken English (grammar, spelling, punctuation).
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Power Point.
Experience implementing new technology and/or systems.
Typing speed of at least 60 wpm.
Knowledge of school district operations and administrative software is considered an asset.
Level 1 Occupational First Aid is preferred.
