Job Description
What you can expect in a typical day
As the Offshore Diver/Operator, you will be part of the offshore team that is responsible for the safe and efficient discharge of Crude Carriers to its onshore storage facility and day-to-day maintenance of surface and sub-surface assets. You will support vessel operations and maintenance of equipment associate with the Canaport Single Buoy Mooring. This position requires you to use tools while diving at depths greater than 100’. As the Offshore Operator Diver, you will also perform deck hand duties on the service boat and monobuoy. This is a very physical job that requires you to be outside, year-round, in all kinds of weather.

Your roles and responsibilities:
  • Perform Deck Hand duties on the service boat; deck handling during tanker operations, maintenance tasks on the monobuoy and service boat.
  • Perform duties as a member of the Tanking Mooring Crew
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection tasks on diving equipment and systems.
  • Perform dives and dive tending tasks and assist contracts as needed on the monobuoy, the service boat, and on shore.
  • Participate in the set-up of materials and equipment prior to diving operations.
  • When required, act as the stand-by diver during operations.
  • Complete preventative maintenance, work orders and corrective action; aid when contractors are brought in to perform these tasks.
  • Participate in maintenance projects such as hose change and bridle change.
  • Able to work rotating 14- days on, 14 days off.

  • Ability and willingness to be trained on tanker operations.
  • Inspect and maintain radios and equipment in the Radio Box.
  • Direct tanker crane operators and Canaport Crew in hoisting and lowering of Tanker Toolbox and Focsle Shack.
  • Direct tanker crews and Canaport Crew in securing and disconnecting the Stern Tug’s towing line.
Travel
Travel is not a requirement for this position.
Education and experience
  • Commercial diving certification from recognized institutes such as Commercial Diving Institute of Canada, DiveSafe International, etc.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience as a related field.
