Speedy Transport is an LTL carrier specializing in Canada to USA transportation and logistics for Canada, USA, Ontario, Quebec and North America. Founded in 1941 as a local, same-day parcel pick-up and delivery service, Speedy Transport has grown to be one of central Canada’s premier carriers.

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to supervise the day-to-day operations of a high-performance warehouse and to lead the workforce to achieve safety, quality, service, and costing goals. This will be accomplished by taking a “Hands on” approach to everyday operations and staff issues.

Position Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the warehouse is adequately staffed and that personnel are properly trained to carry out their work in a safe and competent manner.
• Work with the employees to ensure a safe work environment consistent with relevant legislation and company policies
• Ensure that the warehouse is efficiently scheduled to meet customer requirements and that customer issues are resolved in an effective and timely manner
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, budget targets and contribute to the growth of the company in a pro-active manner
• Oversee all routine and preventative maintenance and schedule any major repairs in accordance with production requirements
• Supervise the overall logistics of the company’s shipping and receiving.
• Supervise all operational employees and dock workers
• Supervise a team of approx. 20 employees.
• Work closely with customer service to provide the best possible service for our customers
• Be active in the discipline of employees

Position Qualifications:

• Previous warehousing experience essential
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience – leading people, product scheduling etc
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written
• Proven problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve operational goals
• Ability to work under pressure and handle several complex tasks simultaneously
• Ability to perform shift work and available for flexible hours
• Ability to take ownership of issues and problem analysis, decision making and resolution
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to listen and provide effective and timely feedback
• Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and courteously with other staff
• Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
• Ability to work in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines
• Ability to operate a personal computer and associated software
• Ability to rapidly learn and perform tasks related to the department or units regulations, policies, rules, functions, procedures, or processes
• Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions

Shift:

• Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm to 6:30 am

Salary: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
