Position Summary

The Overdose Prevention Worker will be part of a team of two to provide Outreach Services in Kelowna and West Kelowna. The successful candidate will carry a backpack of harm reduction materials, seasonal clothing, first aid supplies and at times food donations. Non-judgmental support and referrals for food, housing, healthcare, addictions, pregnancy, legal issues and employment will be provided to those that ask.

Position: Permanent Part Time- Average of 28 hours per week on a rotating schedule

Compensation: $22.68-26.42 per hour

Indirect Compensation


  • Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3 month probationary period
  • 3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service
  • 1 paid wellness day per year
  • Paid sick time which increases with length of service.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Minimum diploma in Community Social Services or care aid certificate
  • Recent, related experience of two years or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience or
  • Other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work.

  • Ability to utilize own vehicle with mileage compensation if required

Other Requirements

  • Criminal Record Search in accordance with agency policy
  • Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Valid BC driver’s license and use of a reliable vehicle
