McMan is looking for a Part Time (20 hours per week) Visit Coach for the Supervised Family Time Program at McMan in Medicine Hat.

The Supervised Family Time program creates meaningful visits with families by creating a safe, secure and supportive environment which respects the service participant’s right to participate in all decisions affecting them; create a healthy emotional environment by establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with service participant.

The Visit Coach has the opportunity to mentor and model positive parenting to the families in the program while providing support and education regarding safe and developmentally applicable activities for their children. The goal is to provide and safe, positive environment for the parents and children to remain connected.

Here is how you will contribute as a Visit Coach:

  • Provide children and youth with safe, supported, and positive connection to significant individuals in their lives.
  • Build caregiving capacity within families and networks of children and youth through supervision, coaching, modeling, and assessment.
  • Assist with goal setting and provide coaching to parents, caregivers, and other supports.
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with children, youth, families, and other supports.
  • Provide detailed documentation for Children’s Services

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in human services or related field and a member in good standing with the applicable professional association. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Minimum one year experience coaching and supporting parents/guardians, children, and youth as a family unit.
  • Flexible schedule required as shifts may be a combination of afternoons (1pm-5pm) and two evenings (4pm-8pm) and/or weekends (primarily Saturdays).
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • An essential function of the position is the ability to carry 44 pounds to allow for carrying child car seats.
  • Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate.
  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months
  • Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Driver’s Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
