Payroll Clerk
Duties:
Organize, schedule, perform, and process accurate multi-union payroll on a bi-weekly basis, follow established controls and procedures and ensure all legal requirements of provincial and federal legislation are met. Process pay changes of salaries, deductions, check time sheets for overtime, loss of pay, sick time, premium pay, etc. Ensure compliance with collective agreements and labour laws provisions.
Review and reconcile wage, deduction, and leave accounts and answer queries relating to pay, deductions and benefits.
Required Qualifications:
One-year certificate from an appropriately accredited institution in an accounting/payroll administration program which provides sufficient preparation and knowledge of a complete payroll process and related accounting functions, Canadian Payroll Association (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation, and five years current experience in processing computerized payroll and all related functions in a large union organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated thorough knowledge and proficiency with payroll procedures and benefits administrations and related accounting functions. Knowledge of integrated web based HR computerized payroll system, demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word and demonstrated ability with basic accounting principles. Superior math, reconciliation, analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads, multi-task, enter data accurately and efficiently, meet deadlines and work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with collective agreements
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Unit4-UBW/ERP system.
