Jardeg is recruiting Pipefitter Journeypersons for Heartland Constructors Inc. to join the maintenance team at CNRL Albian site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Come be a part of an outstanding team working with industry leaders that have been executing work at the Albian site for over a decade. This is a fly in, fly out position. Charter flights are provided by the company from Calgary or Edmonton. The schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off rotation working 11.5 hours per day (2 x 30 minutes breaks, 1 paid, 1 unpaid). This gives our employees a great work life balance with the benefit of an overtime schedule. Overtime is paid at time and a half for anything worked over 8 hours per day and anything worked over 40 hours per week.

Steamfitter – pipefitters lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes. Pipefitters also remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shut-downs.


A Pipefitter will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:


  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving and bending of pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition.
  • Follow various company and Client policies & procedures including adherence to requirements of ISO 9001-2000.


Position Qualifications:


  • Must be able to pass alcohol and drug test.
  • Certified Journeyperson and/or holds a valid recognized credential.
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS-09
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
  • Basic Rigging Certification (company provided)
  • Aerial Work Platform
  • Valid Government Issued Identification


Flights and accommodation are set up with our people in the forefront. Accommodation is provided at Albian Village. This camp is within walking distance to the site footprint, so no long commute times are added to your day. The camp has several amenities to enjoy such as basketball and squash courts, 2 gyms, sauna, in the winter there is a hockey field outside and, in the summer, you can join the baseball teams. Massage therapists are also available on site (must be booked in advance and can be billed through your benefits) If you feel like unwinding in town in the evenings, there are also shuttles available.
