Location: Voisey’s Bay Mine Site, Voisey’s Bay NL (Field Drill Worksite - Remote Wilderness Environment)
Start Date: June 2023 (3 Month Contract)
Status: Temporary Full-Time (12 hour night shift)
Schedule: 2 Weeks On/Off (Site is accessible only by Vale charter flight)

Paramedics play a key role in our team environment. Our paramedics are responsible for ensuring that the health care needs of our clients are met in conjunction with our Nurse team.


Here’s how


  • Respond to emergency situations of both medical and traumatic nature
  • Assist nurse with clinic duties such as patient history taking, vital signs, and patient charting, etc.
  • Perform Ambulance checks
  • Inspect and maintain emergency equipment
  • Onsite equipment checks
  • Inventory of medical supplies and drugs
  • Various clerical duties
  • Aid in statistical data gathering for all clinic visits
  • Aid in the development and distribution of educational material
  • Assist in preparing patients and transfer of care to local Health authority ambulance service
  • Performs audits as required (first aid kits, Employer notification forms, clinic QA)
  • Assists in training and orientation of new medic hires
  • Drug & Alcohol testing

Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle


  • Minimum three years’ experience in an acute care setting, preferably industrial setting
  • Experience in working in an industrial construction site
  • Primary Care Paramedic course which is a Canadian Medical Association accredited course of theory and practice in Ambulance and emergency care
  • Registration with Provincial Medical Oversight (PMO) in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Meet National Occupational Competency Profile Para-medicine (NOCP) Guidelines
  • ITLS current
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR)
  • IV Therapy
  • Symptom Relief Medications
  • Class 5 NL driver’s license with abstract
  • Non-DOT urine drug screening (preferred)
  • Non- DOT Breath Alcohol screening (preferred)
  • WHMIS training an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)
  • Works well under pressure and demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing time sensitive tasks
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
