Norgen Biotek is currently looking for a seasoned Procurement and Collections Officer to join our team. Norgen is a leading Canadian biotechnology company focusing on sample preparation for research and diagnostic applications. Established in the Niagara Region in 1998, Norgen manufactures and sells products world-wide, as well as provides R&D and diagnostic services to the scientific community.

Job Location: Thorold, Ontario, Canada

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:30

General Duties

  • Purchase general and specialized equipment and materials, As specify by the managers, directors, and president
  • Assess requirements of Norgen and develop specifications for equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased
  • Negotiate specs and prices and get and review quotations
  • Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts or recommend contract awards
  • Establish logistics of delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems
  • Purchase of particular materials or business services such as furniture or office equipment.
  • Work with shipping and receiving department
  • Work with Regulatory department to determine critical suppliers and non-critical suppliers.
  • Identify and evaluate back-ups for all critical suppliers to ensure steady flow of critical raw materials.
  • Clearly communicate Estimated Delivery Times with the purchase requester.
  • Contact customers who have past due balances and negotiate payment arrangements
  • Identify and resolve any issues preventing customers from paying their debts
  • Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and payment arrangements
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are made in a timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve any billing or payment disputes
  • Provide regular updates to management on the status of outstanding debts

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics is preferred but not required.
  • A certificate in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a purchasing clerk, collections, or as an administrative clerk is required
  • Certification from the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) is an asset
