The Opportunity

Shawcor is seeking a Production Operator to support our manufacturing facility located in Calgary, AB (3501 54 Avenue SE). Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Operator will be responsible for safely operating production machinery and using tools on the production floor.

Duties & Accountabilities

• Set up, run and shutdown manufacturing equipment. Able to understand manufacturing production schedule
• Monitor product quality followed with appropriate responses
• Record manufacturing data. Use of database and reporting systems
• Conduct all work safely while following the Shawcor CS Safety program, procedures, and policies
• Verifying raw materials prior to use and throughout the manufacturing process
• Operate forklifts, manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
• Perform operator preventative maintenance
• Supporting and mentoring other Operators
• Understand procedures, processes, equipment and product
• Accept guidance, leadership, and supervision to achieve company goals. Ensure that any problems encountered are reported to the Lead Operator
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• Able to work a continental shift- on rotation (2 weeks day shift, 2 weeks night shift).
• Day Shift: 7 AM to 7 PM and Night Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Requires availability to work both weekdays/ weekends
• Basic computer skills
• Comfortable working in a plant environment
• 1-2 years previous manufacturing experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of power tools
• Able to work at heights and confined spaces when required
• Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
• Good work ethic and attitude
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Ability to meet pre-employment testing requirements (i.e. drug and alcohol, physical fitness, audiogram, and vision testing)

Safety

• Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations, and ensuring a culture of safety
• Ensure that the equipment and process operate efficiently and safely
