Position: Production Scheduler

Reports to: Plant Manager

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (hours may vary based on business needs, applicant must be willing to work overtime)

The Position:

The Production Scheduler will plan and establish production schedules to meet customer demands and in accordance with the sales forecast, plant and employee capacity and new business opportunities. The Production Scheduler may work very independently, is very adept at planning and problem-solving scheduling issues, maximizes operational efficiencies and utilizes resources in the most efficient manner.

Education:

· High School Diploma or G.E.D minimum

· College diploma in business or industry related field preferred

Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience with Corr-trim or other planning related software an asset
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an order-based manufacturing environment an asset
  • 1-2 years’ experience with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement an asset

General Duties:

  • Facilitate the efficient utilization of Moore’s Print and Process Equipment through advanced scheduling and tooling administration
  • Support Die coordinators by managing correct label/print die/steel die inventories to draw from
  • Support production through advanced scheduling techniques, and software to allow Moore to utilize its capital and resources efficiently
  • Ensure the customer has a professional experience when dealing with Moore, as relates to press approvals

Work as part of a team to support the Converting Departments:

  • Schedule manpower utilization for upcoming shift(s)
  • Administer / liaise software issues + modifications with Flute, CTI, etc.
  • Manage label inventory
  • Manage Press Approvals
  • General Housekeeping

Specific Duties:

Label Related:

  • Manage/reconcile inventory
  • Manage disposition process of stale labels
  • Manage label-receiving process

Customer/Press Approval Related:

  • Assume main contact responsibilities starting from greeting at door
  • Create/manage/follow procedure for press approvals
  • Be single and sole person to liaise with customer
  • Work towards goal of having everything ready and a first-off done before customer arrives on site
  • Reserve/book ahead Boardroom (if required)
  • Get/manage separate 1Cart/1Order cart dedicated to press approvals (Yellow?) containing inks, dies, good stock, special instructions, signoff sheets, etc. related to press approval
  • Coordinate ink/die supplier (if required)

CTI/Flute Related:

  • Administrate any software changes
  • CTI housekeeping
  • Tie in CTI with any Continuous Improvement Training needs on the floor

Scheduling Related:

  • Schedule press orders more accurately with eye on 3 day look ahead (colour/size/flute/similarities)
  • Stagger starting time to facilitate the 3:30pm Scheduling Meeting, and prepare required documentation(s)
  • Be a backup for the Planner for days off & vacations (scheduling/paper ordering/paper inventory)
  • Be a backup for Inks ordering
  • Print line ups
  • Organize expedites
  • Book out PM schedule in shift calendar and Flute
  • Organize various reports and downtime management
