About Us

In business for over 50 years, Ocean Steel’s Rebar Division cuts, bends and installs reinforcing

steel for poured-in-placed concrete work. Ocean Steel Rebar’s plant capacity is currently 10,000+ tons. Their estimating, detailing, shop scheduling, tagging and shipping is performed using a computerized production management system. Rebar is detailed using the latest CAD technology offered by Bentley Microstation/ASA to CSA, CRSI and ASTM specifications. Rebar is installed using in-house or subcontracted crews depending on the project requirements.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for working directly with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure that all projects are completed safely within budget and defined scope. The Project Coordinator must be an effective communicator with the leadership skills necessary to motivate professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results on every project.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings for IFC revision
  • Engaging in various responsibilities from budget analysis, issuing subcontracts, scope reviews, requisitions, change management and ongoing communication to complete projects
  • Review addendums and incorporate any drawings and/or notes into the drawing package
  • Scheduling drawing submittals
  • Consistently meeting client requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and cost
  • Recognizing key issues and acting in a timely manner to expedite solutions both internally and externally
  • Providing leadership by example and positive guidance to staff, is a team player and provides contribution through constructive communication
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with a technical background would be considered an asset
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel Adobe and Bluebeam
  • Experience reading drawings would be considered an asset
  • Ability to learn new software

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in an extremely fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple and changing priorities without sacrificing deadlines
  • Detail-oriented coupled with proven sense of urgency
  • Organized self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision and a high level of accountability

Cultural Requirements

  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with management and peers
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaborative and independently when necessary
