AET Group is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager, Waste Services to join our team and quickly step into a leadership position. This is a full-time, permanent role.

AET Group is a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting, auditing and scientific services company providing professional services to the built and natural environments in the following core service areas: waste, air, compliance, building sciences, mitigation, GHG, sustainability, audits, water, management systems, home flood protection and energy. Headquartered in Kitchener Ontario, AET provides services across Canada and the United States. AET is looking for dedicated, skilled, and knowledgeable people to complement our current team.

The Project Manager supports the Manager of Waste Operations in actively participating in various types of work done by AET’s Waste Services team, including providing technical waste auditing and consulting services, project, and staff management, and supporting business development opportunities. The successful candidate won't shy away from hard work and is excited for the opportunity to travel, both within the province, and across Canada. The successful candidate must be available to travel regularly for conducting waste studies. The travel may require overnight stays for 1–2-week periods.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to our growth, working on diverse waste projects across Canada, including municipal and ICI waste studies and reduction strategies, material recovery facility commissioning, optimization and quality studies, litter studies, food waste studies, EPR, Circular Economy, and waste reduction planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of waste projects including the planning and execution of waste studies
  • Project oversight and management of waste team leaders and support staff
  • Review of data and reports; report writing
  • Manage and lead waste studies, including sample collection (e.g., curbside residential waste collection, landfill waste collection, recycling collection), and sample sorting to characterize and determine garbage, recycling, and organic composition by material type.
  • Assist with quotation, tender, proposal writing, and project costing.
  • Client relations and business development in waste management across Canada and North America
  • Preparing billable tasks to be invoiced
  • Promotion of company through attendance at trade shows, conferences, and speaking engagements
  • Other duties as requested from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of previous experience managing waste-related projects and small teams.
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies or a related field with previous experience and knowledge in waste/recycling audits.
  • Certified EP with waste specialization is an asset.
  • MS Excel, Word, and Projects knowledge and use is required. Strong data analysis and reporting skills required.
  • Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle is required; being comfortable driving a pickup truck and pulling a cargo trailer is required.
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to function in a team environment and make decisions confidently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be punctual and dependable with a professional demeanor.
  • Possess initiative, adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk.

  • PPE requirements: half-mask respirator/mask, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, safety footwear, coveralls, reflective vest – all provided by AET.

Salary: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
