The position will report to the Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating patient care through the development of an Integrated Plan of Care (IPoC). Duties include crisis intervention and de-escalation, assessment, medication administration, diagnostic and treatment based nursing care . Following program policies and procedures, the nurse will document findings and outcomes. The RN will develop effective and engaging relationships with other mental health service providers and families, caregivers and community partners. Please note: This position involves assuming a charge nurse role and as such the successful candidate will require solid leadership skills.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse , you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care.

  • Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Canada. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience working with children and families required. Minimum 1 year inpatient experience required. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, and provide hands on care to patients in unpredictable, urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Effective De-Escalation Techniques training preferred. Experience with insertion and maintenance of nasogastric feeding tubes preferred. Experience with PICC line maintenance preferred.
