Position Description:

Reporting to the NICU Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered level 2 care environment. You will be caring for premature and newborn acute and critically ill infants and attending high risk deliveries and code pink resuscitation situations in a supportive environment. You will be able to participate in continuous education opportunities and workshops to help further your education. You will be able to bring your passion for NICU nursing to the department while advocating for patients and their families.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

· Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in good standing

· Current BCLS

· Current completion of the George Brown College Perinatal Intensive Care Nursing Certificate or equivalent education within one year of hire

· Current completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certification or willing to complete within 6 months of hire.

· Current completion of the Breastfeeding Resource Certification or equivalent certification

· Minimum of 1-year current Level II NICU experience or recent related clinical placement

· Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced environment

· Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area

· Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients

· Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
