QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Must have current or recent clinical experience of at least two years in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (required).
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in a certificate program in Post Anaesthetic Care Unit nursing (required).
  • Must have completed a critical care nursing program and have current knowledge and demonstrated skill in the care of patients with arterial lines, swan-ganz lines, CVP lines and respirators and care of paediatric patients and airway management.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of pain management concepts including recent experience with the use of Epidural and PCA pumps.
  • Demonstrated clinical assessment and patient/family teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of I.V. therapy is required.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with post diploma related educational preparation or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
