To assist youth in conflict with the law, 12 to 17 years of age, in a secure custody facility.

A university degree is strongly preferred; a college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in psychology, criminology, social work, or a related field is considered. Experience working with high-risk youth or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director the successful candidate will assist the Facility Manager and Program Manager in the effective operation of the facility. The supervisor will assist staff to ensure quality programming and services are in place to meet the needs and goals of the youth in the care of the Association. Duties will include leading and supporting staff, contributing to performance reviews, providing training, and overseeing activities within the facility ensuring that all processes meet licensing requirements and are consistent with agency policies and procedures. Shift work is required. Extensive experience working in a youth justice setting, particularly residential, management experience is preferred. Familiar with applicable Ontario and Canadian legislation e.g. Child Youth Family Service Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act. Specific training or certification in dealing with youth in conflict with the law e.g. restraint, suicide prevention. Experience in cognitive behavioural and strength-based programming, trauma-informed practice, strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and strong crisis management skills.

Mandatory requirements for application of a Residential Supervisor:

  • Criminal reference check declared suitable for vulnerable sector employment,
  • Up-to-date Immunization status according to national standards, including proof of prior Two-step TB testing.
  • Covid-19- second dose and boosters
  • Current First Aid / CPR-C certificate
  • Valid class G driver’s license and offense-free driving
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a physician’s note indicating their fitness to work as per the job description within 10 days prior to hire.
  • Bilingualism and volunteer experience are assets.

Applicants for a Residential Supervisor must be available to attend a mandatory training period (anticipated start June, fully paid days, exact dates TBA) and be able to work a shift schedule consisting of immediate call-in and predetermined shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Wage: $55,868.80 annually.
