We are now recruiting for a full-time Sales Manager to join our dynamic team of hospitality professionals. The Sales Manager will play an important role within both the Sales & Catering Departments and will primarily be responsible for searching out and the coordination of new group, catering and social functions. Securing new individual business opportunities including individual business travel.
Our ideal candidate will be proactive and strategic with a targeted sales focus.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison with group, meeting and event clients working with them to manage their entire needs
  • Acquire and communicate group, meeting and event client needs
  • Targeted prospecting/direct sales activities including planning, research, telephone solicitation calls, in-person sales calls (on-line video calls), site visits, entertainment, attending social/industry functions, involvement in trade association/industry activities/events
  • Effectively using a consultative approach to selling
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure the commitments made and needs of clients are exceeded
  • Maximize revenue potential through up-selling of hotel offering
  • Knowledge of industry trends, community activities, industry business opportunities/changes that will have an effect on the hotels business
  • Act as a property ambassador within the community
  • Negotiate and prepare sales proposals, contracts and banquet event orders
  • Provide input into the preparation of the properties annual business plan
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels; able to respond to and handle guest problems and complaints

Qualities & Skills:

  • Sets a positive example for client, guest and associate relations
  • Ability to effectively prospect and employ consultative sales skills to secure new business while maintaining existing clients/guests relationships
  • Proven interpersonal, time management, organizational and presentation skills, with a high level of detail
  • Understanding of catering, food and beverage, event space set-up, pricing, revenue and space maximization
  • Strong working knowledge of the sales process/activities
  • Must understand Front Office/Reservation/Sales/Catering procedures in order for successful execution of contracts and client expectations
  • Will require training and knowledge of sales systems and all Microsoft programs including SalesForce, Delphi (internal), Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills; strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and energetic with ability to work well in a fast paced and dynamic environment Demonstrated creative capability
  • Proven interpersonal, organizational and time management skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a professional office environment in direct contact with clients
  • Previous hotel sales experience is preferred but not a requirement
  • Post-secondary education is an asset
  • Excellent Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and photo-editing software with minimum typing speed of 50 wpm

Complete job expectations will be discussed during interview. Primary hours are Monday - Friday with expectation to attend various events and sales blitzes during evenings and weekends.
