What you will do:
Crude Accounting/Finance Core Responsibilities
  • Overall coordination of the accounting input of Tidal Canada Crude Oil division, to achieve accurate, timely and efficient month-end close procedures
  • Lead the process of preparing and providing monthly cash forecasts to the Treasury group. Identifying and resolving cash flow or balance sheet issues prior to occurrence
  • Performs actuals to estimates variance analysis to improve the understanding of accounting results
  • Analyzes ad-hoc data using HFM, Essbase and other analytical tools to explain front office results
  • Prepares monthly internal reporting documents and presents results to front office
  • Works closely with Front Office marketing staff to ensure accuracy of monthly accruals and actuals
  • Supports the invoicing and settlement process, including the review of the Crude accountant’s work
  • Review and assist with the payment process, cash receipts, and related verification of these transactions
  • Verifies accuracy of tariffs and shipper balances into accounting system
  • Prepares, verifies, and inputs journal entries into general ledger system
  • Verifies and inputs tariffs and shipper balances into accounting system
  • Analysis and verification of revenue and margins
  • Analysis of inventory valuation and profit & loss
Financial Reporting
  • Own the coordination, preparation, analysis and reporting of the financial documents, including providing comments on any large changes from month-to-month. Respond to inquiries on the financials/operating profit from senior management.
  • Review month-end reporting workbooks, including but not limited to the LCM and normalization entries
  • Lead the preparation and approve various supplemental audit schedules, including commitments, sales by customer, intercompany/affiliate transactions.
  • Prepare and review corporate and PWC required quarterly variance analysis and supporting schedules.
Accounting Research
  • Work with Corporate groups to implement and provide support for new accounting standards, including US GAAP as well as IFRS, to assess applicability to Tidal to ensure we are up to date and in compliance.
SOX/Internal Controls
  • Lead and coordinate with audit staff to ensure the corporate year-end audit, quarterly reviews and ad-hoc requests are completed optimally and efficiently.
  • Lead the SOX compliance for Tidal Canada ensuring all key controls are appropriately documented, supported, and aligned with.
Supervision/Mentoring
  • Directly and/or indirectly supervise crude accountants within the Tidal Canada group including review of their work and assistance in assessing their performance.
Other
  • Assists with implementation of process and accounting system improvements
Who you are:
You have:
  • 7+ years of progressive working experience in a financial environment with a university degree in a related financial field (accounting, finance or financial risk management and an accounting designation
  • Strong analytical abilities to be creative and think creatively to analyze results and have a very high standard of accounting accuracy
  • You have the willingness to learn and grow in new areas
You can:
  • Show strong digital literacy of complex financial system applications in addition to having working knowledge of highly specialized oil marketing accounting, operating and risk systems
  • Offer strong leadership and mentoring skills while also being able to manage complex Front Office processes and corporate office relationships
  • Anticipate and respond to needs of various Corporate Office groups: Corporate Accounting, Enterprise Risk, Audit Services, Internal Controls, FP&A and IT)
You are:
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with interpersonal skills that aid in your customer/commercial focus
  • Well organized with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks to complete both functional and project type work assignments under tight time constraints managing contending priorities
  • Able to manage financial projects which span the entire Tidal Energy Marketing organization and are aligned with Enbridge enterprise wide processes.
The following are considered assets:
  • Working experience with Oracle, HFM and Essbase.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
