The Lodging Company is a full-service ski hospitality provider based in the Okanagan Valley since 1999. We are seeking a driven individual to fill a full time Senior Bookkeeper position in our West Kelowna offices.

Job Overview

The Accounting team plays an integral role in driving the success of our company. This position requires formal education within the accounting field. You'll want to have Quickbooks Desktop experience with knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. The majority of your time will be spent working with fellow coworkers or alone. While the position does allow for some remote work opportunities, the majority of time would be spent working from our offices based in West Kelowna, BC.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum grade 12 education plus post-secondary education in a related field of study.
  • Training in courses certified by the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, Canadian Securities Institute, or the Canadian Bookkeepers Association would be an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a finance department with full cycle bookkeeping.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems.
  • Experience in Intuit programs with knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Have excellent time-management skills, extremely organized and able to handle repetitive work.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly bookkeeping assignments (including, but not limited to payables, receivables, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, payroll calculations including bonus and vacation calculations, taxable benefits and remittances, and annual T4 reporting).
  • Prepare year-end financial statements for various entities.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Maintain general ledger and perform daily accounts reconciliation duties.
  • Perform month-end tasks, create journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, including reconciling subledgers/sub-systems to the general ledger.
  • Calculate and prepare payroll.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
  • Reviewing and analyzing of financial reports, account receivables & account payables.
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • Act as a continuous learner with a willingness to embrace innovative technologies that streamline, automate, and optimize bookkeeping functions.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Review and analyze Balance Sheet and P&L account variances/movements, and assess a variety of financial data.
  • Support the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements that accurately reflect the financial performance of the company.
  • Support the interim/year-end audit processes.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and provide business decision support.
