THE OPPORTUNITY

Electrical Engineers are leaders, problem solvers, and bridge builders. They provide technical support for the entire project team and work closely with our clients to deliver exceptional results. You will be accountable for executing technical strategies throughout the project lifecycle and will directly impact the Scovan customer experience. Collaboration and interaction with your team will be paramount in ensuring exceptional results for our projects and our clients. This includes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, project controllers, vendors and suppliers.

Senior Electrical Engineers are leaders, problem solvers, and bridge builders. They are the face of our organization and work closely with our clients to deliver exceptional results. You will be accountable for establishing and optimizing execution strategies throughout the project lifecycle and will directly impact the Scovan customer experience. You will bring your management and people skills to drive cross-functional programs at scale. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, project controllers, vendors and suppliers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a part of a dynamic team working with the project manager to execute the electrical engineering responsibilities on challenging and innovative energy projects.
  • Pursue engineering excellence. Be relentless in pursuit of opportunities to automate, optimize and advance productivity and efficiencies that help reduce overall costs and increases the quality of the project scope/engineering deliverables.
  • Ensures that the project execution is in accordance with the Scovan Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP)
  • Identify potential operational barriers and improve on the reliability of our project deliverables
  • You collaborate with our clients to understand the objectives of their project and to clearly identify what success looks like
  • Establish and optimize the project team’s framework and cross-functional workflows, so that the project teams can focus on executing the project effectively and with minimal churn
  • Drive programs to help the project teams scale which include prioritization and planning, resource management, program tracking, and budget management
  • Establish engagement models and cross-functional collaboration channels with key design partners and stakeholders, balancing multiple priorities and needs
  • Communicate, Interface, and collaborate effectively with manager, project team, vendors, and clients
  • Advocate for success by ensuring the project team has time and space to apply sound design practices in the execution of the project
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities to not only meet project basic project objectives, but to deliver an exceptional project that exceeds expectations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technologist
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of applicable project execution experience
  • APEGA Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, advanced knowledge of Excel is a benefit
  • You come with a technical engineering background and have exposure to project management responsibilities in your past roles.
  • Expertise and competency in the following areas: Hazardous area assessment and classification, Low and medium voltage power systems, Electrical system studies and using SKM or ETAP software (short circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash), Electrical and controls design, integration, equipment sizing and selection (generators, transformers, switchgears, MCC, PLC and control systems, heat tracing infrastructure)
  • To take ownership of the results and to work to improve future results
  • Take initiative, advocate and exemplify teamwork, innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Experience in emerging energy fields is a definite asset.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills and the ability to manage in an environment of ambiguity with a diverse range of partners
  • Experience working in continuous delivery environments where the pace is fast
  • A willingness to fail and learn
  • Earnest, mature, and ego-free. You welcome candid feedback and can constructively give it as well
