Senior Funding Officer

We are looking for a motivated self-starter to join our Toronto team as a Senior Funding Officer. In this role, you will work with an extensive portfolio of commercial, multi-family residential and industrial real estate properties across Canada. You will use your eye for detail, sound decision-making and coordination skills to coordinate the funding of mortgages that have been originated through our broker network. About the Role:
  • Instructing solicitor and external property insurance consultant after ensuring all requirements have been met, including commitment letter changes being addressed deposits received
  • Liaising with solicitors, insurance consultant, originators, investors and CMLS Credit Risk Management, to ensure that all supporting documents and pre-funding conditions are received and satisfied prior to advancing funds
  • Coordinating the closing process with the applicable investor, ensuring that all investor requirements have been met and investor approval is received
  • Coordinating the interest rate fix, ensuring that all pre-rate fix conditions are satisfied and investor requirements for the rate fix are met
  • Calculating interest adjustments, tax holdbacks and monthly tax components
  • Arranging sign off on the advance by senior management prior to requesting funds
  • Ensuring that accurate information is provided to the CMLS servicing department for set up of all loan details in the commercial loans management system
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting post-funding reviews and resolving open post-funding issues as directed
  • Processing construction draws and renewals
  • Completing the above tasks for CMLS’s most complicated transactions, including sales at renewal, loans with multiple investors and initial advances for construction loans.
  • Acting as mentor for Funding Officers
  • Assisting with training of new hires
  • Completing file audits for teammates
This role is for you if you have:
  • You have high attention to detail
  • You are results and solutions-driven with strong organizational skills
  • You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • You are a team player
  • You have an undergraduate degree
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry, preferably in mortgage funding
  • You have intermediate experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • You have the ability to adapt to a variety of responsibilities
  • You demonstrate a high degree of accountability and commitment
