Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Position: Senior Metallurgist

Position Reports To: Mill Manager
Position Overview
New Gold is seeking a Senior metallurgist to join our Mill team. Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Senior Metallurgist will be involved with the day-to-day safe production, plant improvements, metal accounting, and troubleshooting problems within the process department.
Responsibilities
Work closely with operations, maintenance, ore control, metallurgical/assay labs, and outside departments to ensure environmental compliance and safe functionality of plant operations.
Manage various projects to ensure processes are engineered to meet business needs through optimal design and cost management.
Must be a team leader with excellent communication skills and be able to provide technical assistance and analysis to process group stakeholders.
Maintain the Metallurgical laboratory for various benchtop testing protocols to understand better circuit opportunities, including reagent consumption and recovery optimization.
Preparation and submission of technical reports.
Essential support of the Mill operating group to maintain high process standards allowing for stable processes and sustained parameter set points with minimal variance.
Ensure effective management of the Metallurgical team to continue supporting operations and process needs.
Manage educational protocols to be extended to operations group personnel relating to process performance enhancement and risks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering required
5 to 8 years’ experience in a mineral processing plant preferred.
Experienced with CIP/CIL process, SABC milling process, process control systems, preferred
Excellent leadership skills required
Proficiency in multiple software applications and network platforms required
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
Employment is subject to successfully completing New Gold’s pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
