We are currently looking for a Sr. ADMS Technician to join our T&D Operating Systems team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Sr. SCADA/DMS Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the distribution grid in the ADMS model for outage prediction. You will perform daily QA model builds, correct model build issues, facilitate scheduled tasks and procedures, and mentor junior GIS team members. You will also provide on-call support to DCC System Operators and ensure the stability of ADMS operations during adverse weather conditions. You must possess proficiency and knowledge of ADMS and GIS applications.

As a Sr. ADMS Technician you will:

  • Daily QA model builds: Ensuring accurate representation of the energized state of the distribution grid in the ADMS model for outage prediction.
  • Model build corrections: Addressing and rectifying issues identified by planners and DCC in a timely manner.
  • Model builds for planned work and switching procedures: Facilitating and supporting scheduled tasks and procedures within the distribution grid.
  • Mentoring junior GIS team members: Providing guidance and expertise to help develop and strengthen the skill sets of our junior team members.
  • ADMS DCC System Operator support: Serving as a trusted resource for DCC System Operators and providing on-call support as needed.
  • ADMS support during storms: Ensuring the stability and reliability of our ADMS operations during adverse weather conditions.
  • Supporting ADMS upgrades and capital projects: Collaborating on integrations that impact ADMS and providing necessary expertise to ensure successful project completion.
  • After-hours support for ADMS: Providing critical off-hours assistance to ensure the smooth functioning of our ADMS operations.
  • Represents Nova Scotia Power (NSP) to internal and external customers to facilitate project information exchange beneficial to NSP’s operations.

What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Graduation from a Community College with a GIS certificate and/or an advanced diploma in GIS.
  • Experience with geographic information systems and a good understanding and knowledge of electric utility distribution feeder systems is required. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of experience in this area.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient working with ESRI GIS software suite including enterprise geodatabases, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills are required.
  • Project Management skills would be considered an asset.
  • You must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • A working knowledge of IT infrastructure support is considered an asset.
  • The candidate understands the dynamic nature of an operational role and can prioritize and manage work accordingly.
  • The candidate possesses strong oral and written communication skills and a commitment to customer service to internal and external customers. The role includes a rotating on-call requirement for after-hours support.
  • Experience with the Schneider Electric ADMS system is considered an asset.
  • You must possess a valid driver´s license.
