About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Group Lead, Shutdowns, Turnarounds and Outages (STO), our team is currently seeking a Senior Turnaround Scheduler who will be responsible for the Oilsands turnarounds and major outages schedule development. Example elements of the schedule include reviewing plans, resource loading, critical path analysis, and supporting budget development. As a crucial member of the Turnaround Planning and Readiness team, effective collaboration and work process stewardship will be a key accountability.
This is a full-time employee position based in our downtown Calgary office that will require approximately 25% travel and a commitment to support turnaround scheduling at site.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the STO (Shutdown, Turnaround and Outage) Planning Team
  • Actively participate in Team Meetings reviewing the work scope and schedule
  • Ensure compliance of assigned items as part of the Turnaround milestones and plan-to-plan
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams, including long range planning, operations, construction, engineering, and daily maintenance
  • Identify, develop, maintain, and distribute KPI reports on Turnaround planning activities
  • Support Logistics planning and management where required
  • Participate and provide recommendations to help vendor and 3rd party TA contract agreements
  • Support and actively participate in scope challenge session
  • Support development of the closeout report
  • Update scheduling processes based on lessons learned
Detailed Scheduling of Turnaround (TA) Activities
  • Define the overall scheduling philosophy and process for gathering and integrating all activities in the TA schedule based on TA complexity
  • Develop schedules including run-down, tool time and startup at various stages
  • Support the optimization strategy to finalize schedule loading
  • Integration of MOC and Project work into the TA schedule
  • Schedule optimization including critical path and near critical path
  • Communication of baseline schedule to all stakeholders, integrated schedule review
  • Review manning histograms and mobilization dates with stakeholders based on plan to plan
  • Review and mitigate any workface congestion or SIMOPs activities
Support Execution of Turnaround Execution (site-based activity)
  • Prior to ramp down issue a detailed look ahead schedule and review with all stakeholders
  • Develop schedule reporting detailed plans
  • Pre-work schedule kicked off & monitored, and reported
  • Update the schedule and communicate impacts in timing and resource loading to stakeholders
  • Schedule report including critical path and near critical path to the TA execution team
  • Addition of found work into schedule, with manning and resource changes provided to Coordinators
  • Communication with contractors for mobilization dates
  • Prepare post work schedule and resourcing requirements to the Post Work team
  • Track post-work completion for closeout of TA work
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 8+ years’ Turnaround or major maintenance scheduling experience
  • Experience with turnaround process and management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and reliability practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to high safety standards
  • Superior trouble shooting skills Excellent organizational skills, problem solving and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities
  • Extensive scheduling experience using Primavera
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (Maximo or SAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and able to develop additional computer skills as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a team environment
  • Self-motivated and team oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities
This position will require the successful candidate to:
  • Possess a valid Alberta Driver’s License
  • Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the Cenovus Alcohol and Drug policy if required.
