These temporary positions will have varying hours dependent on client needs. LOA/camp is not available for this role, but all candidates are encouraged to apply if they have local accommodations. We have a referral bonus program in place for this role, and we are offering $50 for each referral that successful join our team for this project.

Join our upcoming 2023 Mercer Turnaround at the Peace River, Alberta pulp mill from May 3rd - May 16th.

What would you be doing?
- Monitor the health and safety of workers engaged in confined space work
- Conduct fire watch, bottle watch, gas monitoring, and breathing air/apparatus activities
- Learn how to set up, inspect and operate safety equipment
- Management of confined space activities, managing entry records for personnel
- Prepare required paperwork for confined space entry including entry logs
- Maintain detailed records of entry conditions, personnel entry and exit from space, atmospheric readings
- Assist confined space entry personnel in donning and doffing required PPE, entering and exiting confined space
- Ensure all procedures, policies, rules and permit requirements are followed for work in confined spaces
- Maintain excellent housekeeping at entry manway, proper disposal of contaminated materials
Does this sound like you?
- Previous pulp mill experience is an asset
- Must have your own reliable transportation
- High regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets, and employees
- Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines
- Must be clean-shaven and have the ability to do mask work
- Must have strong, clear and fluent English language skills as use of radio for communications is required
- Must be physically capable of standing for long periods and performing light labour tasks if required
- Ability to walk up and down multiple sets of stairs and stand for extended periods
