SCOPE
Reporting to the Supervisor, Service Centre, the incumbent assists in the daily operations at the Service Centre and provides first and second level technical support by troubleshooting and resolving problems. They set up, maintain and repair classroom and lab audio-visual and computer equipment on both campuses.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Restore disrupted services in a timely manner by deploying approved workarounds or permanent solutions.
  • Implement approved changes to support IT infrastructure endpoints.
  • Provide front-line customer service (ie. information, consultation, training and technical support to faculty, students and staff in using instructional technology).
  • Use and update the information technology support management systems with all pertinent information.
  • Deliver, set-up, tear-down and troubleshoot audio-visual and computer equipment in classrooms, video-conferencing facilities, labs, special venues and in remote locations as required.
  • Share knowledge to help others resolve work related problems and act as a source of expert information guiding and training end users.
  • Maintain information on equipment inventory, maintenance and repair activities undertaken and specific information on problem resolution.
  • Perform and is responsible for routine maintenance and installation of equipment and workstations, including, software in classrooms, conference rooms, auditoria, labs, offices and the service area in a timely manner.
  • May be required to act as a backup to other functions in the service area.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (3-year technical program) in relevant field with two to four years of related experience.
  • Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English to give detailed and routine explanations to the community; basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken French to answer general inquiries.
  • Good knowledge (Intermediate Level) of Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS platforms.
  • Experience with a wide variety of audio-visual equipment including data projectors, laptops, video players, PA systems, microphones, mixing boards, digital recorders and document cameras.
  • Good organization skills, ability to prioritize tasks and multitask; ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, staff and external community.
  • Physical ability as attested by successful completion of medical evaluation to the University’s satisfaction. (e.g.: to lift, carry and move, without assistance, up to 23 kg (50lbs) and with assistance, up to 34kg (75lbs)).
