St. Jacobs Place Retirement Residence offers luxury retirement and assisted living in Ontario's rural gem, the village of St. Jacobs, at the northern edge of Kitchener Waterloo. We are a lovely intimate size with only 50 suites, permitting time to really get to know our Residents and their families.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Routine medication administration (e.g. oral pills, eye drops, subcutaneous insulin injections, nasal spray, ointment, etc.)
Take and record vitals as needed
Fill portable oxygen tanks and maintain equipment
Clean and sanitize common areas, complete other housekeeping duties
Completing first aid as needed
Complete reports for any falls or incidents during shift
Use proper infection control techniques
Act as the primary point of communication for emergency services when required
Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents during the shift
Report to the Director of Care
Work as part of a team in support of one another and our residents
Complete annual training
Requirements:

CPR and Standard First aid
Ability to speak, read and write in English
Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and to complete simple arithmetic calculations
Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, and lifting as it pertains to resident care and housekeeping duties
Completion of a TB Test, a Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search as per the Retirement Homes Act
Provide negative COVID-19 test
Experience in a healthcare setting (+2 years)
Experience with medication administration (preferred)
The successful candidate will posses the ability to work efficiently and follow direction effectively. They will recognize that there is little to no room for error in ensuring the safety of the residents. They will be able to handle any emergency situations that arise during their shift and act accordingly to ensure the safety of the residents, staff, and their self. They will interact with all residents with kindness, respect, and patience.

Shifts: Days 7am-3pm and evenings 3pm-11pm

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Experience:

  • Senior care: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (preferred)
