About the Opportunity

The Virtual Care Technician position supports patient and public access to various approved provincial Virtual Care applications. This includes patient/citizen training, Nova Scotia Health (NSH) and personal device support and private space bookings. The position supports and trains other NSH organization staff in the use of health applications and resources for various virtual care projects. The broad mandate is to coordinate delivery of appointments, as well as assist staff and patients on the various technical needs of approved Virtual Care applications in Nova Scotia.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


  • Successful completion of Grade 12/GED
  • One-year post-secondary recognized program in Applied Media and Communication, Business Administration or Information Technology Information program or equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
  • Medical terminology course or experience in healthcare setting an asset
  • Previous virtual care/telehealth experience and/or working in a health care environment with direct patient contact, experience with video conferencing technologies and troubleshooting basic video and software issues with devices
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and efficiently
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various levels of the organization and on a team
  • Comfortable working in patient care settings
  • Strong customer focus
  • Experience supporting and training others in technology applications
  • Comfortable navigating various computer and mobile hardware/software
  • Excellent communication skills in-person, over the telephone, and on-line
  • Aptitude for communicating ideas and concepts to others
  • Well organized and with good attention to detail
  • Competencies in other languages, French preferred

Hours

  • Short, Full-time Assignment; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$21.41 - $24.33 hourly


Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
