About the Opportunity

Reporting to and in collaboration with the Renal Program Manager and Assistant Manager, Renal Program, the Ward Clerk is responsible for reception, clerical and administrative duties to ensure the effective operation of the Ward. The ward clerk is the primary point of contact for communication via telephone and in person to patients, public, unit staff and other NSH departments. Direct responsibility includes booking appointments, patient registration, chart maintenance, compiling statistical data, maintenance of policy and procedure manuals, staff scheduling or pay sheet duties as assigned, and other clerical duties as assigned while following NSH policies and procedures.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


  • Grade XII plus one year related experience, or graduate of a recognized one year secretarial/office/business program
  • Office based computer skills required
  • Medical terminology is an asset
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Long assignment, full-time position, 70 hrs bi-weekly
Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of April 7, 2024 (Approximately 12 months)

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - $21.91 Hourly
