Senior Staff report directly to the Camp Director and support delivery of camp programs, leadership of Staff and camp operations.

Key Responsibilities

Working with the camp director:

Liaise with Camp Director prior to camp season

Participate in pre-camp activities including planning programs, and setting upequipment and facilities

Assist with the pre-camp and ongoing training, supervise, scheduling and evaluation of other staff

Understand, prepare for and assist with emergency procedures as needed

Provide support in other departments

Ensure staff rules and code of conduct are followed

Assist with the nightly camp shut down activities

Perform staff bunk checks

Ensure all camp facilities are kept tidy and in good condition

Prepare an end of season report including a review and recommendations for the future

Observe the hours of work and responsibilities as outlined by the Camp Director

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Camp Directors

Waterfront Director

The Waterfront Director is the primary person responsible for safety on the waterfront. They are in charge of training and overseeing lifeguards, developing and deploying emergency procedures and responses, and for working with the Program Supervisor and other senior program staff in order to deliver waterfront-based activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years camp experience
  • Experienced in developing, coaching and supervising peer staff
  • Must have lifeguard qualifications as defined by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated appropriate attitude, skills and knowledge for the position
  • Strong communication and human relations skills
  • Enthusiastic and energetic.
  • Valid Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector search or willing to obtain one (n/a to applicants under the age of 18).
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete the Scouts Canada Screening and Training requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Working with the program supervisor:

Plan, schedule, supervise and deliver the lifeguard training and monitoring program

Manage and supervise lifeguards, providing ongoing training, monitoring, and mentorship to ensure they demonstrate a high standard of lifeguarding, first aidskills and enforce waterfront rules.

With the assistance of the other waterfront staff, organize and conduct comprehensive in-service lifeguard safety programs including instructional review, fitness swim, scenarios and practice drills

With program heads, plan, organize and supervise the waterfront program, including lessons, integrating Outdoor Adventure Skills into program, safety, staffing and evaluation

When on duty, oversee campers and staff and their safe and proper use of all waterfront equipment

with the camp director and program supervisor determine unsafe weather and wind conditions and implement required procedures

oversee proper use, maintenance and upkeep of all waterfront equipment, includingthe mooring of boats

Communicate the emergency waterfront missing persons search and rescue plan to campers andstaff

Review emergency procedures and consult with the Camp Director to revise

plan, promote, organize and supervise the regatta, and involve other camp

Manage and report on maintenance and repair schedule for the beach, waterfront, equipment and docks

Manage waterfront first aid services and help medical personnel as requested

With medical staff, perform weekly inventory of camp first aid kits and Organize first aid supplies and communicate ordering with medical staff and the camp director

Coordinate and maintain an inventory of all Waterfront Equipment used for recreational useand lifeguarding

WAGE:

This is a contract position and a total salary, commensurate with skill and experience, will be established for the contract period.
