Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

The Vehicle Management Agency's mission is to provide fleet management and vehicle maintenance services to Government, on an economical basis and according to established standards, to enable clients to deliver quality services to the public.

What you will do?

As a welder, and member of the Vehicle Management Agency, you will work under the direction of the Mechanic Supervisor of the Chipman Repair Facility and be responsible for:

  • A variety of welding, fabrication and metal cutting duties on various ferries, machinery and equipment.
  • The refurbishment of fleet components and the repair and maintenance of fleet assets.
  • The Inspection and maintenance of welding equipment and the shop.

Essential qualifications:

  • Possession of an approved Red Seal Welder Certificate as issued by the Province of New Brunswick and have a minimum of three (3) years related work experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Written and spoken competence in English is essential for this position.

Operational requirements:

The following operational requirements are also required:

  • Working on weekends
  • Travel and variable hours.

SALARY: $26.74 per hour, based on 40 hours per week
