We are seeking a full-time, permanent Planning Supervisor within the Woodlands Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing operational plans, supporting the team in the delivery of high quality, low cost logs to the MPR Mill.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Act as the Company representative with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, public stakeholders
  • Development of the General Development Plan (GDP) and associated Annual Operating Plans (AOP)
  • Develop operational plans that meet higher level plan commitments and comply with government regulations
  • Work with other forestry companies on integrated plans
  • Management of layout staff and contractors
  • Monitoring environmental aspects of harvesting
  • Environmental Management System, Quality and Health & Safety programs
  • Liaise with Government officials on various approvals
  • Development of annual budgets, including monitoring of annual expenditures
  • Variety of projects throughout the year
  • Mix of field and office work
  • Additional duties, as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Member or eligible to become a member of the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals (AAFMP)
  • Safety conscious individual who can demonstrate safe work practices with respect to people, equipment, and processes
  • Proficiency with GPS/GIS technology utilizing current versions of ArcGIS including ArcMap and Field Maps
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, independent, and capable of making informed decisions in a team environment
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems, quality and safety programs would be considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operator's license
  • Able to work in a physically demanding setting, required to work outdoors in varied climates
  • Proficiency using a computer, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite of Applications will be considered an asset
