Position Summary

The Youth Development Coordinator functions as part of the Outreach Services team to lead a variety of child and youth programs in the FCSS service area. The Youth Development Coordinator collaborates with other members of the team to provide support where necessary.

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Current First Aid, or a willingness to obtain certification.
  • Clear criminal record and child intervention checks.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives.
  • An accepting, non-judgmental, and non-authoritarian approach.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a rural setting.
  • Ability to treat young people’s concerns with respect, tact, and sensitivity, while being aware of professional boundaries and the limits of confidentiality.

DETAILS OF RESPONSIBLITIES

Programming

  • Develop and lead programs and activities for children and youth, including indoor/outdoor drop-in events and daily summer camp programming.
  • Plan activities aimed at assisting rural youth engage in their communities.
  • Provide ongoing social, emotional, and programming support to children and youth.
  • Collaborate with other FCSS staff members in planning and implementing services.
  • Build partnerships with community agencies by participating in local parades and summer events hosted by local municipalities.
  • Promote FCSS programs.

Community Development

  • Attend 10-12 community parades, which includes driving a pick-up and community events trailer.

Administration

  • All FCSS employees are expected to perform administrative responsibilities to meet organizational and funding requirements as directed by mandate and policy.

Salary: $20.00 per hour
