Pembina Hills School Division Facilities Department invites applications for an Administrative Assistant III. The Administrative Assistant will support the Facilities team. The successful candidate must be a self-directed team player. This position will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Division’s Occupational Health and Safety Program for staff. Duties are to commence on June 1, 2023. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday working 7.5 hours/day.

The Division
Pembina Hills School Division provides education to approximately 3800 students in 15 community schools in north central Alberta. PHSD also provides education to over 10,000 students from within and beyond our borders, through our online school, Vista Virtual School.

The Facilities Department is responsible for all site aspects such as the maintenance, electrical, plumbing/heating, janitorial, grounds work, playground inspections and OH&S for all Divisional sites and schools. These sites include 11 schools, 2 colonies and 2 outreach sites which consists of 56,899 sq. m2 of facility space.

The goal of the department is to maintain and upgrade facilities to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment to meet the educational needs of the Division students and staff for years to come.

  • Effective research and analytical, risk assessment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to articulate and influence outcomes
  • Handle detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and mentor site personnel by providing instruction and direction to foster positive, collaborative relationships, both internal and external to the Division
  • Knowledge of computer applications required with excellent word processing, database, and PowerPoint skills
  • Related experience in health and safety services would be an asset
  • Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Legislation Awareness
  • Knowledge of Division operations, policies and practices
