The Aggregates Manager is responsible for all operations of the Skwla̓x te Secwepemcúĺecw (Little Shuswap Lake Band) aggregate business, Skwlax Aggregates, which is being managed and supported by Skwlax Resource Management. The Aggregates Manager reports to the General Manager and works closely with the rest of the management team of Skwlax Resource Management.

Key Job Duties:

  • Inspect and manage the quality of aggregate and aggregate materials produced
  • Provide leadership and managerial skills to coordinate all operations of the business
  • Managing third party contractors
  • Ensure the goals and budgets of the business are met at all times
  • Managing site QA/QC programs for all aggregates produced and sold
  • Responsible to dispatch, monitor and manage the aggregate fleet, including planning, organizing, and evaluating to ensure effective and efficient aggregate transportation
  • Support commercial sales efforts on aggregate opportunities to ensure maximum performance and value
  • Work cooperatively with the crushing contractors to plan, organize and communicate assignments aligned with the required volume needed in each of the products required
  • Ensure that the operations respect regulations, policies and procedures
  • Maintain and promote a culture that promotes safety, quality, and environmental compliance for all staff, employees, subcontracts and clients while following all policies, procedures and regulations
  • Oversee staff and operation teams by carrying out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees and subcontractors; planning, assigning and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Prepare reporting for leadership and present, as required
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the day-to-day performance of the operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Review financial reporting and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Revise and/or formulate policies, procedures to promote their implementation
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned. These duties may fall out of the scope as described to support the business in whatever capacity deemed required.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education, or equivalent education and work experience
  • Experience with aggregate operations and systems (sales, quality, inventory management, dispatch)
  • Masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success
  • Outstanding communication and people skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • NCSO certificate considered an asset

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction industry, with significant management and supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in aggregate industry, with significant management and supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of all types of Aggregate products, manufacturing process, quality control and equipment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the operation and management of gravel crushing operations
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of crushing equipment
  • Able to work professionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding in developing and maintaining operational budgets and schedules

Skills and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of project and contract documentation including contracts, drawings, specifications, subcontracts, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal skills, listening skills, organization abilities, proven attention to detail, and ability to develop good working relationships with inside and outside organizations
  • Masterful software and technical application skills including inventory management software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, client relations, production, and employee management
  • Strong understanding and commitment to First Nations culture, history and community development

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
