Bring your technical expertise and experience to the Ontario Courts of Justice, Judicial Information Technology Office, where you will be a part of a team that is responsible for the development, and maintenance of applications, databases, and reporting solutions for services in support of judicial administration. As a member of a diverse technical team at the Judicial Information Technology Office, you will work with internal and external IT and business line partners to ensure the security of judicial information and provide top quality IT services and solutions to the judiciary and supporting staff.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • perform senior technical applications development work for the Offices of the Chief Justices, and provide specialized, senior level expertise for the integration of software programs and applications into the organization's information systems
  • provide technical expertise in the design, development, support, and maintenance of data/database administration, business intelligence (BI)/analytics solutions, and data warehouse administration in support of the organization's data/database environment
  • plan and lead/implement applications/databases/reports development projects as assigned


How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • you have knowledge of database/data warehouse methodologies (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server), programming languages (e.g. web development languages such as HTML, CSS, JQuery, React, Bootstrap), including Microsoft (e.g. ASP.NET, ADO.NET, LINQ), database concepts, data types, data dictionaries, and data storage and retrieval techniques (e.g. Transact-SQL)
  • you have knowledge of I&T applications/web/cloud development (e.g. Microsoft Azure, SharePoint)
  • you have knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies for business applications (e.g. Azure DevOps); ongoing operation, maintenance and support of applications in production
  • you have knowledge of theory, principles, standards and methods for systems design and object-oriented design, development


Knowledge:

  • you have knowledge of enterprise level I&IT strategies, objectives and standards affecting application development and each client's I&IT needs and business environment
  • you have knowledge of current and emerging I&IT industry standards and trends to research, evaluate and implement new applications
  • you have knowledge of project management methods, including planning, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling, to manage projects and project components.


Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • you have problem-solving skills to undertake senior-level and/or specialized projects, and/or provide technical leadership and solutions development
  • you have technical analysis skills to evaluate and analyze development architecture and tools, software packages and hardware/software technology.
  • you have the ability to make timely and appropriately researched and evaluated recommendations for diverse technical problems
  • you have strong analytical and assessment skills to analyze and evaluate design alternatives; develop project plans, and design, develop and implement systems solutions


Interpersonal and Team Leadership Skills:

  • you have effective interpersonal and team leadership skills to establish effective working relationships with judicial clients, members of the judiciary, project team members, users, executives, management, and vendor; encourage clients' support for recommended approaches; negotiate and instruct vendors.
  • you have customer service skills to provide data, reports, problem resolution, education/information.


Communication Skills:

  • you have written communication skills to write, explain and present very complex technical analysis, options and proposals and provide draft policies and procedures
  • you have oral communications skills to consult and interview clients, lead discussions of applications development options and technical processes, and explain technical issues to non-technical clients and end users
