The Community
The City of Melville is a welcoming and thriving community located 145Km N.E. of Regina. We neighbour the City of Yorkton which is about 43 Km N.E. We are served by Hwy’s 10, 15 and 47 and we are also served by Via Rail. The Community has a population of about 4,600 people and a trading area of about 25,000. Major industries located in the City currently include, Railway, Agriculture, Health Care, Manufacturing, Insurance and of course the City is a service center for the surrounding area.

Position Summary:
The City of Melville is looking for a Chief Administrative Officer who will advise Council on policies, legislative requirements, facilitate strategies, and provide strength to both Council and Administration. The candidate will possess the ability to manage infrastructure development and service delivery, while tending to astute fiscal management. This is an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and lead and mentor a great group of administrators who are eager to perform at all levels.

The Chief Administrative Officer has a well-rounded senior management team which includes the City Clerk, Director of Finance, Director of Community Services, Director of Public Works and Planning and Safety.

This position would appeal to a true leader, a great communicator, and a mentor, familiar with the Cities Act and versed in Municipal legislation. The candidate will respond diligently to the needs of City Council, Administration and the Citizens of a community that honours tradition. A trust and relationship builder who is keen to establish themselves will thrive in this environment.

Ideal Requirements include:
A Post-secondary degree /diploma in Public Administration/Business Administration/Commerce/Economics, Finance or other Municipal related areas combined with 5 to 10 years of senior level leadership, and administrative experience including the management of significant human and financial resources. CLGM certification would be considered an asset.

Experience within a dynamic municipal setting is preferred. Candidates must be able to develop strategies, policies, service plans, project management and business plans. Managing financial resources, operating and capital budgets as well as working with other levels of government, including Federal, Provincial will be invaluable.

Candidates must possess the ability to understand, interpret, explain, and apply local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations.
